Qld: Teenage dealt heroin worth $20,000

BRISBANE, April 3 AAP - A 15-year-old youth dealt in heroin after being stood over
by an adult drug gang, the Queensland Supreme Court was told today.

The youth, who turns 17 tomorrow and cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty
to nine charges, including supplying and possessing heroin last year.

He supplied 112 milligrams, worth more than $22,000, to undercover police.

The court was told he was born in Australia to Vietnamese migrants.

He was disenchanted and had no family supervision because his parents were working
hard in their restaurant business.

Justice John Helman said the boy was young, vulnerable and exploited when he was addicted
to heroin by adult dealers.

"What is of major concern is you came under the eye of drug trafffickers in the Vietnamese
community," he said.

"This is another regrettable incidence of people in that community using very young
people for their own ends."

Justice Helman said that because of the youth's age and lack of previous convictions
he would make an immediate release order on a sentence of 12 months detention, and also
impose three years probation.
