NSW: Youths targeted in push to cut car thefts
SYDNEY, Feb 25 AAP - Young people steal about 100,000 cars a year in Australia, promptinga new national campaign to curb the problem.
The Spur of the Moment comic book and Ride of Your Life video aims to educate youngpeople about the legal, and potentially life threatening, consequences of car theft andjoyriding.
Statistics released at today's Sydney launch show 30-40 lives are lost each year inaccidents involving joyriders.
The animated film features a trio of joyriders who crash - one dies, one goes to jailand one receives a juvenile detention sentence.
