COLORADO CHEFS ON THE FRONT RANGE.(Travel)

The term "regional" American cuisine is likely to bring to mind Southern grits, Cajun sauces, New England clam chowder or maybe Cal-Mex fish tacos from Southern California. Well, slap on your Stetson, pull on your best boots and head for Denver.

The "front range" may mean the western face of the Rocky Mountains to some, but it's also the favorite kitchen appliance of some of Colorado's most creative people.

John Hickenlooper is typical of Denverites who are rising to the culinary challenge. When the oil industry hit the skids and geologist Hickenlooper wasn't inclined to leave Denver, he instead became an entrepreneur. …
