TekMetrics to Test CSC Job Candidates Over the Internet.

TYSONS CORNER, Va., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- TekMetrics, Inc. has announced it has signed a pilot project agreement with Computer Sciences Corp. (NYSE: CSC) to assist the $7.4 billion global information technology (IT) company to better identify top IT talent over the Internet. Under the terms of the agreement, applicants will be able to expedite the hiring process by taking skill tests directly over the Internet.

"It's critical to our business to attract talent and place them in jobs for which they are best suited," said Gus Siekierka, CSC's vice president for Human Resources. "By using an approach that includes skills testing to verify skill levels, we should be able to conduct the hiring process more accurately and at reduced costs."

CSC recently rolled out a Web-based recruitment system that is expected to handle thousands of job inquiries each month.

Matching candidates to jobs over the Internet is a growing trend. According to John Sumser, CEO of Interbiznet, the leading Internet recruiting research firm, there were over 250,000 web sites engaged in recruiting in 1998, with a significant portion focused on information technology positions. "The Web is becoming the preferred place for employers and job candidates to meet," said Bill Engelson, CEO of The Leadership Edge, a Northern Virginia Executive Consulting firm. "The firms that are taking advantage of the Internet to complete the qualification process are going to appeal to today's IT job seekers."

Engelson believes this is a growing trend. "Targeting is absolutely key to future HR functions. The organizations that are in the best position to deal with today's workforce issues are building processes that help managers make fast and accurate decisions based on their critical data, such as an employee's actual skill level. TekMetrics' approach gives managers that ability." TekMetrics holds similar contracts with EDS, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Booz Allan Hamilton, and Mindbank.

CSC develops individual business solutions that are delivered by more than 50,000 employees in 700 global locations. Services include management and IT consulting, system consulting and integration, operations support and information services outsourcing. CSC maintains headquarters in El Segundo, Calif., and posted revenues of $7.4 billion for the 12 months ended January 1, 1999.
