QLD: MPsill-health could trigger snap poll
The failing health of Queensland Labor MP NITA CUNNINGHAM could trigger an early state
election this week.
Premier PETER BEATTIE's flown to Bundaberg to speak with Ms CUNNINGHAM .. who's expected
to quit politics because of an ongoing battle with skin .. head and neck cancer.
Her resignation will give Mr BEATTIE the choice of holding an expensive byelection
in Bundaberg .. or calling a general election .. possibly on September 9.
Mr BEATTIE says he won't decide today.
The latest he can call a September 9 election is this Tuesday .. and he has a cabinet
meeting tomorrow.
